English as First Additional Language

Many South Africans speak and write in more than one language. Linguistically we are one of the most diverse countries in the world.

Members of our team have experience in schools, NGOs, vocational colleges and universities in teaching English as a first additional language, sometimes called English Second Language teaching.

Hilary Wilson has worked at the Wits Writing Centre, the Wits school of Education and the Wits Department of Languages, and taught English Second Language (ESL) students at vocational colleges. She has developed course materials and researched educational needs for leading publishers and for NGOs such as READ, SACHED, and the Khanyisa Education Support Programme. She has published educational material in South Africa, Botswana and Swaziland.

Reville Nussey has lectured at the Wits School of Education in the division of Social Sciences & Economic Management Sciences. She has given courses in curriculum studies, History and Social Sciences methodology and teacher professionalism.
